Condition: NewFormat: DVD
Color; Dolby; DVD; Enhanced; NTSC; Widescreen
Description
Winner of the 2007 Tony Award! Sweeping all the major theater awards for Best Revival of a Musical, a beloved era-defining classic is stunningly reinvented in this powerful Broadway production, featuring an explosive starring performance by Raul Esparza. Set in modern upper-crust Manhattan, Company is a funny, sophisticated exploration of love and commitment as seen through the eyes of a charming perpetual bachelor questioning his single state and his enthusiastically married, slightly envious friends. With a wise and witty Stephen Sondheim score including "Another Hundred People," "Side by Side by Side," "The Ladies Who Lunch" and "Being Alive," Company offers musical comedy at its finest.2. Company - A Musical Comedy (1970 Original Broadway Cast)
Description
Stephen Sondheim's Company still sounds as modern as it did when it opened in 1970. Donna McKechnie, Susan Browning, and Pamela Myers spoof the Andrews Sisters with gusto in the tongue-twisting "You Could Drive a Person Crazy," while Browning and Dean Jones's "Barcelona" is filled with longing and heartbreak. And, of course, Elaine Stritch reigns supreme, proving once more that you don't have to be the best singer to steal a musical. An extra track features Larry Kert (Tony in the original West Side Story) singing "Being Alive." Kert had replaced Jones early in the run but wasn't on the original cast recording. It would have been nice to finally get the lyrics, though. --Elisabeth Vincentelli3. Oliver and Company (20th Anniversary Edition)

UPC:786936769739DESCRIPTION: A timeless classic inspired by Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist, Oliver & Company is a fun-filled, action-packed musical adventure voiced and sung by one of the most talented casts in Disney history!
The film artfully blends lovable characters, cool songs, and action-packed adventure into a contemporary classic. Disney's hip, high-energy tale begins in the concrete canyons of New York City, where Oliver, an adorable orphaned kitten, is befriended by Dodger, a carefree mutt with a certain street savoir faire. The mischievous little cat is welcomed by Dodger's pack of pickpocket pooches, including dim-witted Einstein, ravishing Rita, and live-wire Tito. This ragtag family of misfits runs into trouble when the evil mastermind Sykes -- aided by his two daunting Dobermans -- schemes to kidnap the lonely little rich girl who just adopted Oliver! It's up to the brave kitten and his newfound friends to race to the rescue in an electrifying chase through the city's subway system. Boasting five outstanding original songs and the musical talents of Billy Joel, Bette Midler, and Huey Lewis -- and overflowing with brilliant animation, Oliver & Company is a modern masterpiece.
4. Company: A Musical Comedy
5. Company - A Musical Comedy (1995 Broadway Revival Cast)
Description
Expectations ran high for this 25th anniversary revival of Company. Boyd Gaines's Robert was surrounded by a solid cast, though once again the women particularly shone: on "Barcelona" Jane Krakowski shows why she was a respected Broadway actress way before television discovered her in Ally McBeal, while Veanne Cox navigates the treacherous rapids of "Getting Married Today" with the assurance of a true New Yorker for whom singing fast is routine (does she even breathe?). Debra Monk won't make us forget Elaine Stritch on "The Ladies Who Lunch," but she's more than adequate as she roars down this ultimate showstopper. "Marry Me a Little," not in the 1970 version, is included. Of the three Company recordings that are widely available, this is the only one to include the complete lyrics. --Elisabeth Vincentelli6.
